Schools & Education

Using sport to develop people, confidence and opportunity

Oxfordshire RTC Schools and Education is a dedicated strand of our organisation, created to support schools across Oxfordshire in delivering high-quality physical education, physical activity and school sport. Guided by the same values, standards and development-first philosophy that underpin our football programmes, this provision extends our impact into educational settings where sport can play a powerful role in shaping young people’s lives.

At Oxfordshire RTC, we believe sport is about far more than performance. It is a tool to develop confidence, character and positive habits for life. Whether a child is playing their first game of football, taking part in unstructured playground activity, learning to ride a bike, or simply discovering enjoyment through movement, our aim is to create environments where every young person feels supported, included and encouraged to participate.

Our Ethos

Our work in schools is driven by the same principles that define Oxfordshire RTC:

  • Development First – focusing on long-term growth, confidence and enjoyment
  • People & Culture – creating safe, inclusive and positive environments
  • Leadership & Character – using sport to develop responsibility, resilience and teamwork
  • Opportunity & Access – widening participation and removing barriers to activity

We work in partnership with schools to complement existing provision, enhance opportunities and support pupils at every stage of their development, not just those who naturally gravitate towards sport.

A Whole-School Approach

Oxfordshire RTC Schools and Education supports the whole school community, recognising that physical activity can positively influence wellbeing, engagement, behaviour and self-belief. Our programmes are flexible and tailored, allowing schools to choose support that aligns with their priorities, context and pupils’ needs.

Delivery may include curriculum PE support, enrichment activities, physical activity initiatives, staff support and targeted programmes designed to engage less-active pupils. All provision is delivered by experienced, qualified practitioners and underpinned by strong safeguarding and professional standards.

Our Vision for Education

Our vision is to help schools create cultures where physical activity is valued, accessible and enjoyable for all. By working collaboratively with schools, we aim to support healthier lifestyles, stronger relationships and more positive experiences for young people, both in and beyond the school environment.

Oxfordshire RTC Schools and Education reflects our belief that sport, when delivered with purpose and care, can be a powerful force for good.
