FAQ
Oxfordshire RTC is a player development organisation delivering structured football programmes, education initiatives and community sport across Oxfordshire. We support young people through football and physical activity, focusing on long-term development, confidence, enjoyment and opportunity.
Oxfordshire RTC operates as a development centre with multiple programmes, including performance squads, development squads, foundation programmes and education provision. While we are not a professional academy, we work to high professional standards and offer clear pathways and opportunities for young players and staff.
We work with young people from 4 years through to 18, across Soccer Schools, Pre-Academy, Development Squads, JPL Squads, holiday camps and other bespoke programme.
JPL Squads represent our highest performance level and compete in the Junior Premier League. Development Squads provide structured training and games for players not currently in JPL squads or those seeking additional support. Both sit within the same pathway and players can move between programmes.
Yes. Movement across programmes is encouraged where appropriate. Progression is based on individual development, attitude and readiness rather than fixed selection.
No, while JPL Squads are primarily selected through trials, many players join Oxfordshire RTC via Development Squads, Pre-Academy, Soccer Schools or camps before progressing.
Our main JPL trial window runs between April and June for the upcoming season. However, where space allows we do offer trials outside the main trial period, we may invite players to train with an existing squad before advising on the most suitable programme.
This depends on the programme.
- JPL Squads typically train 2–3 times per week
- Development Squads train 1–2 times per week
- Foundation and Soccer Schools usually train once per week
Sessions are delivered across Oxfordshire, including Oxford, Bicester, Banbury and Buckingham, using a network of high-quality facilities.

Yes, though the format varies. JPL Squads play weekly league fixtures, Development Squads play a set number of games per season, and foundation (5-8) programmes access games through festivals, events and camps.
Yes. Oxfordshire RTC offers domestic tours, day trips, excursions and experiences at professional facilities. Some opportunities are open to RTC members and external groups.
All sessions are delivered by qualified, experienced coaches who are DBS-checked and trained in safeguarding and first aid. Coaches work within a clear curriculum and shared philosophy which aligns with Coerver Coaching.
Safeguarding and welfare are central to everything we do. Clear policies, trained staff and supportive environments ensure young people feel safe, valued and supported.
